30th October 2010 - Great Craic at Fancy dress duathlon / kids fun run Last Halloween weekend we held another successful Fancy dress duathlon & kids fun run in Fenor with over 60 competitors between both events from our own club, Carrick Triathlon club, friends & family with lots of spectators and parents joining in also. It was not a race as such, more a bit of fun to help raise money for charity. In the end we raised €400 to be split between Down Syndrome Ireland and the new playground in Fenor (which people got great enjoyment out of on the day). It started off with a 5k run which most people stayed together for and then they headed off on their bikes for the 19k cycle and finished off with a 3k run. It was a great sight to see the likes of Indians, Draculas, ghosts, superheroes, pirates, prisoners and much more running and cycling around. When all the adults were gone off on their bikes, the kids, who had also dressed up in fancy dress, did a short fun run. Everyone put in a great effort with their costumes but special mention has to go to Olive O’Brien and Vinny Power who were zombie bride & groom (with Olive’s 2 nieces completing the ensemble) and Kieran Eaton and his family who all made a huge effort. They have set the standard for next year’s event. See our Facebook for lots of photos.
