17th September 2011 - Weather hampers Pulse Triathlon

The Irish weather again forced the cancellation of a swim at one of Triathlon Irelands National Series races which was held in Clogherhead in Co. Louth which had over 300 competitors vying for valuable points.  Gale force winds combined with rip currents made the sea unsafe so the alternative plan was put into action in the form of a duathlon with a 2.5k run which was then followed by the planned 20k cycle and 5k run.  It was tough going on the bike with the strong winds but it suited club member Peter Barry who revels in a challenge and he was awarded with 25th place finish in 1.02.17.
