Little Bo Peep Triathlon

The annual triathlon hosted by Kenmare Tri Club “Little Bo Peep” took place recently in Kenmare with over 200 competitors taking part in this Olympic distance race.  The 1500m swim took place in a marina with the 40k cycle taking in some tough inclines but it is the 10k run which is the toughest, basically running up the side of a mountain before turning around to come back down the same way.  We had 3 club members take part with Andrew Hickey finishing 24^th overall in 2.17.23 and Ned Power just a few minutes behind in 2.20.51.  Caroline Russell has spectated at this race a few times but this year decided to make it her debut Olympic distance triathlon, partly in preparation for the half ironman distance race she will be doing in this part of the country in a few weeks time.  She finished in a brilliant time of 3.05.28.
