1st July 2011 - Return of Bonmahon Triathlon Bonmahon Triathlon made a comeback recently after a few years off the calendar with 10 of our own club members taking the plunge. The swim was short at 500m which made it perfect for the not-so-water-confident competitors, the cycle being 20k and followed by a tough 5k run which was uphill for most of the first half. Kyle Barrett, in his 1st year of triathlon, emerged 10th out of the water and powered his way up the field to finish 4th overall in 1.06.21, collecting a prize for 3rd overall senior. John Brennan was next home in 9th place in 1.09.48 with Mark Power in 13th place in 1.11.46. Martin Flynn, who only learned to swim properly last year, has improved hugely due to his winter training and finished 17th in 1.14.13. John Moloney was next home in 22nd place in 1.19.00 with Anna Louise Muldoon just behind in 23rd place in 1.19.03, also picking up a prize for 2nd female overall. Margo ODowd was next home to finish 3rd female overall, collecting a prize for 1st female vet. Olive OBrien had mechanical problems with her bike so lost a bit of time there but was delighted with her comeback race to finish 31st in 1.25.21 with Bob Cowman next in 1.27.00 and Shane McDonagh in 1.30.45. |
