Another podium finish for Martin

Martin Kirwan travelled to Naas recently to take part in the 3^rd race of their duathlon series where they had a huge entry field of almost 200 competitors despite the bitter cold which always seems to accompany the races held there in the Punchestown race course.  The 1^st run is shorter than usual at just 3.5k so the speed and pace set is painful.  Martin came back in 4^th position after the run, losing a good 20secs in Transition to his nearest competitors (an area he needs to work on!) before heading out on the undulating, windy 20k bike course.  This is Martin’s strong point though, and once he got his breath back after the run, he powered his way up into 3^rd position which he held onto for the 2^nd run to finish 3^rd overall in 58.03mins, his 2^nd podium finish in as many weeks.
