23rd November 2010 - Club Duathlon next weekend

Next Sunday 28th November at 10.30am we will hold the 1st of our winter club duathlon races in Butlerstown.  This will involve a 5k run, 20k bike followed by a 3k run.  This will also be a perfect training race before the 1st of the European Duathlon championships qualifying races being held in Limerick the following weekend and in Naas the weekend after that.

We can park our cars at the back of the Holy Cross pub.  Due to the recent renovations, entry to the car park is from the front only so just drive around to the back.  If possible, it would be good if people could cycle out there as parking will be limited (esp. due to busy Sunday lunch in pub)

The European Duathlon champs (10k run, 40k cycle, 5k run) will be held in Limerick next April with 20 Irish athletes from each age-group qualifying to take part and wear the green colours so we encourage all club members to take part in either Limerick or Naas to try to qualify as it’s a great opportunity with the race being held in our own country.

Anyone who finished top 6 in their age-group in the National Champs will automatically qualify for the Duathlon champs. (This means that Shane Scadding, Tom Casey and Peter Barry qualify).  It would be great to see the club well represented so we would encourage everyone to try to qualify and then you can make up your mind afterwards.
