Training Timetable - May 10 - Sept 10

Monday       Sea Swim in Dunmore East

                     Meet at Councillors beach car park at 6.30pm (may meet at earlier time of 5pm   

                     on bank holidays) - arrive early to sign on, etc.

                     various distances - suit beginner to advanced

                     (wetsuit and 2 swim hats required, warm clothes for afterwards)

Tuesday       Track session at Regional Sports Centre (RSC) 6-7pm

                     (training with athletic clubs – costs €2.)

                      Slow - Medium paced cycle - approx 20 - 30 miles depending on ability

                      Meet at 6.30pm at Top Garage on Cork road. (beside B&Q roundabout)

                                                *********

                     10 week race with Comeragh Cycle club meeting at Carroll's Cross 7pm       

                      Fast pace – costs €6 per night   - approx 25 miles

                                      

Wednesday   Swim Lessons - Splashworld (Tramore) 7-8pm

                       2 lanes of mixed abilities

                       Costs €5 per night (pay as you go basis) - Fully booked up at the moment

                                        

Thursday      Club Bike Time Trial (TT)  -     distances:  10 mile  & 18 mile options   

                      (slowest go first, fastest last)

                       Meet at Williamstown (Farronshoneen) roundabout at 6.30pm

                       (need helmet and water bottle)

 

Friday            Swim Lessons - Splashworld (Tramore) 7-8pm

                       4 lanes of mixed abilities -

                       Costs €5 per night (pay as you go basis) 

 

Saturday         Run in Portlaw woods

                        Meet at 10am at car park area up Church hill (through Portlaw)

                        A hilly off road run of various distances, 6-12 miles

 

Sunday            Cycle – meet at 9.30am at Bank of Ireland (Brown’s rd)

                        2 groups, fast and moderate

                        Approx 50 miles but can cater for shorter distances for newcomers

                        (Need helmet and water bottles and food)

The following section is a checklist for training gear and racing gear...

PRE RACE

Waterford Triathlon T-Shirt/Hoodie, clothes to warm up in, rain jacket,

Triathlon Ireland membership card / One day licence printout plus photo ID

SWIM

Wet suit, swim hat (x2), tri suit, goggles, nose clip ?, glide stick/vegetable oil (or similar, to help get wetsuit on/off), watch, sunscreen, ground towel to wipe feet on after swim

CYCLE

Bike, helmet, cycle shoes, sunglasses, water bottles (with energy drink), food/energy bars, saddle bag/tool kit/spare inner tube/oil, pump, bike computer, race belt.

RUN

Runners (with elastic laces).

POST RACE

Waterford Triathlon T-Shirt/ Hoodie
